Millions of people around the world are at risk of contracting one or more debilitating NTDs. Seven of these diseases – lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis, trachoma, and three soil-transmitted helminthiasis (hookworm, roundworm, whipworm) – can be controlled and treated through targeted mass drug administration providing safe and effective drugs to all individuals in an affected community.
USAID targets these seven diseases by providing financial and technical support to countries to deliver regular, large-scale treatment for at-risk populations.
