Today the World Health Assembly adopted a decision to recognize January 30th officially as World Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) Day.

On January 30, 2020, the global community came together for the first time to celebrate World NTD Day. Now with the recent decision, January 30, 2022 will be the first officially recognized, World Health Organization (WHO) -endorsed World NTD Day.

The January 30th date commemorates the simultaneous launch of the first NTD strategy —a road map for NTDs— and the London Declaration on NTDs in 2012. Learn more about WHO’s 2021-2030 road map.

USAID has supported the fight to end NTDs since 2006. The U.S. Government was one of the first governments to publicly support this awareness day. World NTD Day is an important opportunity for USAID and its partners to reflect on the progress made to lift lives and improve health. See the results of USAID’s investment to date.
